The Tuscola Police Department provides community oriented policing at its best. TPD consists of seven full-time officers with over 97 years of combined police service and training, as well as two part-time officers and a dispatcher. Providing around-the-clock police protection for Tuscola and the surrounding area, it boasts capabilities and qualifications normally only found in larger departments.

The Tuscola Police Department is a member of the Douglas County Drug Interdiction Unit, and frequently provides the services of its K-9 narcotics detection and man tracking team. TPD is also an annual participant with the Illinois State Police Roadside Safety Check Point program. The department is staffed with a full-time, certified Illinois Master Firearm Instructor, certified Juvenile Law Officer, and a DARE officer. It is equipped with in-car video, mobile data terminals, patrol bicycles, and both marked and unmarked squad cars, some of which are 4-wheel drive SUVs.

TPD continues to focus on its primary mission, which is to provide service and protection to the citizens of and visitors to Tuscola. From bicycle patrols of the City parks to theft prevention classes for local businesses, Tuscola is proud of the excellent service and reputation of the Tuscola Police Department.
