Beginning his service to the City of Tuscola as an alderman in 1985, and then as Mayor in 1988, Mayor Kleiss has shown enduring leadership and commitment to his community!
Daniel J. Kleiss is the long serving Mayor of the City of Tuscola. Mayor Kleiss began his service to the city as an alderman in 1985 and became Mayor in 1988. Dan was re-elected in 2025 to continue his legacy of over 37 years as Mayor! He is a member of the Illinois Tax Increment Association (ITIA) and a past president. He has been instrumental in Tuscola’s growth and progress including significant development of the I-57/US 36 corridor and redevelopment of Tuscola’s Mainstreet and downtown business districts during his tenure. Dan retired from his position as Human Resources Manager for Cabot Corporation’s Tuscola, IL and Midland, MI facilities after over 40 years with the company.
